The Oryx bullet has a cast core. It looks like a regular lead bullet, but the core and lead jacket are permanently bonded together. This prevents the bullet from cracking or bursting upon impact, even through thick bone. To ensure optimal expansion at any impact velocity, the Oryx has a thin front jacket with internal partitions. The weld and thicker rear jacket provide very high mass retention (often more than 90%) and good penetration. Rapid expansion without cracks creates a wide penetration channel, which reduces tissue damage. High mass retention also provides good penetration and high energy release.
